Finished dollhouse come in two finishes. The first is a
milled exterior finish and the second finish is a smooth
exterior finish. The milled exterior finish is recommended
for amateur dollhouse builders and finished dollhouse of
this type have the clapboard siding milled directly onto
the finished dollhouse exterior. This finish is preferred
by first time builders as it is faster and easier to assemble
that finished dollhouses.
More advanced builders can go in for a smooth exterior
finish. This finish has the advantage that they can attach
combinations of materials such a stone, miniature clapboard
siding or brick to the exteriors according to their own
choice. The exterior materials can be used by themselves
also by these builders.
The sizes of finished dollhouses vary from 1’ to
5’. The building materials used in finished dollhouses
are of two types. The first being Medium Density Fiber Board
or (MDF) the second type is plywood of varying thickness
