Comment on Impressive Barbie Doll house by jennifer stewart http://dollhousecollectables.com/blog/2006/06/09/impressive-barbie-doll-house/comment-page-1/#comment-5899 jennifer stewart Tue, 15 Jan 2008 14:38:12 +0000 http://dollhousecollectables.com/blog/2006/06/09/impressive-barbie-doll-house/#comment-5899 Creating a dollhouse requires some expertise in woodworking since you will be using wood to create your dollhouse. Barbie dollhouse and its accessories are manufactured approximately to 1:6 scales. First, you must ask yourself what size dollhouse you would like. It's important that you decide on the size before you start working on your dollhouse because the bigger you intend to build it the greater the dedication you must put into your work. Second, figure out the reason in building your Barbie dollhouse. Some just want to have something to house Barbie, others want to show their doll collection off. Many build a dollhouse for the sole purpose of showcasing their interior design skills and have no particular interest in miniature collecting as a hobby. Third, do not forget about the budget. Just because a dollhouse is sized down it can still cost a pretty penny. A dollhouse's beauty is found in the intricacy of details from wallpaper to seat upholstery. Your budget will dictate the size and details you will have when building your dollhouse. Last, plan your interiors including the furniture to form a style such as the usual Victorian, Craftsman, or Georgian. You decide what you think best complements your Barbie and consistently apply this motif all throughout the dollhouse to achieve consistency in design. I first thought it was handmade but now am not sure. It does need some painting and TLC but I think it will be very nice when I'm done. Is there any way I can find out more about it. I can take pictures of it and send. I know it was owned by an older woman who thought she was going to get approx. 800.00 for it. I bought it for 150.00, no furniture. If possible, please let me know if you can help me find out more information, or where I can go to locate more information. I sent them a missing and broken parts replacement form to the address on the form, POBox 459, Newberg, Oregon & it was returned not deliverable. I have damaged window molding and 2 roof parts fit only if you flip them and have the grooves on top of the roof. I did make a mistake building the windows and you can't buy windows to fit the openings. I am not an expert but this is my 5th dollhouse to build so do have some experience. Do you know where I can contact Duracraft to get these parts. Appreciate very much, your help. I have the Dura-Craft Bayberry Cottage Kit, BY197.
